This booklet outlines describes the range of support Sands can offer when a baby dies during pregnancy or during the first days or weeks of life. It is primarily for parents in the hours and days after their baby's death. The information will also be helpful to anyone affected by the death of a baby, those who care for them and anyone who wants to find out about the services Sands offer.

Information and support for recently bereaved fathers.
Specifically for bereaved grandparents, who will be struggling with their own grief and seeing their own child’s pain.

Support for specific situations
A number of UK-based charities offers support and information to bereaved parents:
- advice and support for you if you have lost a baby through stillbirth, neonatal loss or termination for medical reasons
- raising awareness of baby loss
- promoting research into the causes and prevention of stillbirth and neonatal loss.
- support for you if your baby died as a result sudden infant death syndrome/sudden unexplained infant death (cot death)
- research into the causes and prevention of SIDS.
- provides non-directive support and advice to expectant and bereaved parents throughout and after the antenatal screening and testing process.
- offers support to you if your baby’s death was due to Group B Strep infection
- campaigns for sensitive Group B Strep testing for all pregnant women in the UK
- works to raise awareness of the dangers of Group B Strep infection in pregnant women
- support for bereaved parents
- support for you if you have lost a baby to miscarriage.
